More Cute Things Said by my Kids

Landon:
As I had mentioned in my last post, Joe was just released from the bishopric after almost six years of service. Landon was only one when Joe was put in the bishopric and so he doesn't even remember what it was like before his Daddy was so busy. So on Sunday, after we got home from church, I was asking the kids how they felt about Daddy being released. Landon responded with, "I'm kind of sad that Daddy won't be the main character anymore." I had to laugh at Landon's perception of what a member of the bishopric was. I guess I'm just the supporting actress or even just an extra in the scene.

Andrea:
Tonight, Andrea asked Daddy if the reason he fixed his hair the way he did was so he could get married. Joe told her that he was already married. Her eyes got real big and she said, "You are? Who are you married to?" Joe laughed and said that he was married to Mommy. She was skeptical because of Joe's constant sarcasm and after a pause said, "I'm going to go ask Mommy." Sure enough, she came to me and said, "Mommy, did you marry Daddy?" I told her, yes. She then said, "So, you married Daddy and he married you?" I, of course said yes. She looked real surprised and said, "Oh." I kind of thought that our wedding pictures displayed throughout the house was explanation enough, but I guess I should take the time to explain to our kids that Joe and I are married. It would be pretty embarrasing if Andrea told people that her Mommy and Daddy weren't married!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Well, today would have been my Dad's 65th birthday. It has definitely been a day of much emotion. Joe got released from the bishopric today and so that has been creating many different emotions. Then, of course, my Dad has been on my mind all day. I just wanted to let him know that I love him very much. There isn't a day go by that I don't think of him. He was the best dad that any daughter could ask for. He taught me so much and I miss him more than I ever could have imagined. I'm so thankful that I know that he is happy and that I will have the opportunity to be with him again. So, Happy Birthday to the best Dad on earth and in the Spirit World! I love you!!

Alexa's Science Fair Project

Alexa was required to do a science fair project this year. She made five different models of paper airplanes and experimented to see which model flew the farthest. Alexa got an "A" on her oral presenation and we still have not heard yet what her final grade was on the project. (It better be an "A" after all the many hours spent on this.)
Even though Alexa did not place at the Science Fair, we were proud of her for all her hard work. She earned first place in our book! (The first place science project was a homemade hover craft. How do you compete with that!)

Landon's Science Fair Project

It was not required for Landon to do a science fair project this year, but Landon really wanted to do one, so in all my spare time (Ha Ha) we put this one together for him. His experiement was to mix the primary colors in different ways to see what colors were created. He mixed food coloring in shaving cream and had an absolute blast doing it!
Even though Landon didn't place at the science fair, I was sure proud of him for all his hard work and his desire to do something that wasn't even required. Great job, Landon!

Kids say the darndest things!

One day after lunch, when it was time for Andrea's nap, she was looking really tired and I said, "So, should we go get you down for a nap?" After a long sigh, Andrea responded, "No. . . I'm too tired."

Two days after Christmas, Landon came up to me and told me he was bored. I got a little mad and told him that after spending all that money on toys, he better not be bored. I told him to go and play with one of the many new toys he just got. Then about two weeks later, he came up to me and said, "Mom, am I allowed to be bored yet?" After laughing, I told him no and that he should go find a toy to play with.
